International Development: Project Cycle Management
As the biggest aid donor in the world, this course follows the specifics of European Commission (EC) funding formats while taking you through project cycle management. Participants will be made familiar with the concepts of problem analysis, analysis of objectives and strategy analysis using Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) techniques while taking the logical framework (logframe) approach.
The logframe approach can encourage transparency and flexibility in planning projects with stakeholders. It is a powerful way to clarify the relationship between activities and objectives, coordinate resources and, identify future opportunities and difficulties.
The participatory approaches section of the course will build on the one day training, addressing the socio-cultural realities of the poor in perceptions of poverty and pro-poor interventions. We will discuss issues of power and the problems that they represent, and practice the tools and techniques of participation as we fill out a concept note and logframe matrix for the EC call for proposals.
Finally, you will analyse your project framework and will be guided through the process of identifying verifiable indicators and sources of verification. While discussing the importance of monitoring and evaluation, you will be taken through the process of developing a monitoring and evaluation system in line with your logframe matrix that satisfies multiple stakeholders.
